Although both Ecommerce and M commerce work in the same direction of using the internet for the purpose of buying and selling they are still very different in many aspects.
Mobility: the definition of Ecommerce is electronic commerce where people shop online. In order to shop online in Ecommerce the use of a laptop or desktop is required and in comparison to this M commerce gives you the option of shopping online by using your Smartphone anywhere and everywhere. You just need internet access for it.
Reachabilty: because mobile phones are way farther in portability than laptops there is a clear chance of retailers being able to reach out to people using smart phones giving them easy access and a larger audience which the mobile commerce users can use to their advantage.
Convenience Transactions: your transactions are just a few taps away from your screen if you’re using a mobile phone. Whereas in Ecommerce you have to make your transactions using a computer which is time consuming and you will need a proper place to set up your laptop.
Location Tracking: this facility is rarely available in Ecommerce because computer devices don’t usually have the location tracking option whereas mobile devices can track and identify locations using the GPS technology or Wifi. These result in the people getting the best offers located in their area or the areas they travel to by tracking their locations.
Security: in Ecommerce customers usually pay through credit cards but customers have a fear of sending their credit numbers on to the internet. M commerce offers a wide range of security. Apart from two-factor authentication and multi-level authentication which is present in Ecommerce, M commerce goes ahead and also offers biometric authentication which is done through retinal scans, facial recognition or fingerprints
