ANTI-DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT COURSE – OUTLINE
I. PRE-TEST / SELF ASSESSMENT, TRAINING COURSE GOALS
There will be an opening video on accidental discrimination, a self-assessment, and goals of the course.
II. NEW YORK CITY HUMAN RIGHTS LAW (“NYCHRL”)
Here we will discuss the law and what it means for employers and employees.
III. WHAT IS DISCRIMINATION
We’ll go over the definition of discrimination.
IV. TYPES OF DISCRIMINATION PROHIBITED BY NYCHRL
We’ll go over the types of discrimination, with a focus on employment.
V. CONDUCT/PRACTICES CONSTITUTING “EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION”
We’ll discuss conduct/practice by a Covered Entity affecting the Equal Employment Rights of a person, based on the person’s membership in a Protected Class.
VI. COVERED ENTITY §8-102
Here we will cover the definitions of terms used in this law, including what defines an “employer”, “family”, etc.
VII. EQUAL EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS §8-107
This section covers unlawful dsicriminatory practices, with a focus on workplace discrimination.
VIII. PROTECTED CLASSES – WHEN DISCRIMINATION PROHIBITED, see §8-101, 102
This section of the course will cover policy and protected classes.
IX. EXAMPLES OF EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION
Here we will show a video of employment discrimination.
X. REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN CLASSES §8-107
This section of the class covers religious observance, undue economic harship, and more.
XI. RIGHTS AND LEGAL PROCESS UNDER NYCHRL §8-109
Here we will cover written complaints.
XII. Q & A SESSION / HUMAN RIGHTS LAW POST-TEST / RESOURCES
This is the end of the course, where we’ll have a post-test, a question & answer session, and further resources.
